Cheap Flights

I was looking for flights from Paris to Newcastle, England the other day and came across a one way bargain for 1.99 Euros. Bloody hell, I thought. You can't beat that. Of course, by the time they'd tacked on all the odds and ends, it came to almost 400 Euros for five of us.

Pah!

This You Tube video was brought to my attention by Robin Pascoe, better known as the Expat Expert, and herself a seasoned traveller.

Not only is it hilarious, but so, so true:

Enjoy!

  1. That video was hilarious. I reckon they just do this type of thing to get your interest and then all the added on things bring the price right up. I think the words of the song are pretty much true! Theres no such thing as a cheap flight!

  6. A few years ago we got several flights to various bits of Europe for about £30 each including taxes etc - but now there are so many charges it's just impossible. Feckin' feckers.

    I loved the video.

  8. Brilliant! Except for Virgin you'll lose weeks of your life here in the US if you take cheap flights. The one in NZ is cool through - they all look like they're out of star trek. Plus you get kids on the flight that have never flown and its just so sweet.

  9. Great clincher: "If you haven't pre-paid to use the steps, you'll have to feckin' jump..."

  10. p.s. Apparently, Southwest is the exception to the rule? I was just now reading on the Harvard Business Review:
Just as Netflix totally disrupted an existing industry with their pricing scheme, so has Southwest Airlines. Most major air carriers offer complex and seemingly arbitrary fares, where one-ways can cost more than round trips, and where no two people seem to pay the same price, and then tack on various and sundry fees, for baggage, for seating, for changing tickets, and more. Southwest came in and made all prices one-way fares, and what you see is what you pay.

  13. You won't believe this, but Fascinating Aida performed at my parents' birthday party several years ago; we were so lucky that my sister knew one of them and was able to book them. They are hilarious!
