Not that I'm pulling a Gwyneth and giving my lowly readers a little glimpse into my fabulous life, but here's a link to an interview avec moi. I had forgotten all about it, but it's currently up on the My Child web site, with me. Yes folks, peer into the black hole that is my life with three kids, all of whom are under my feet most of the time. Next time you're feeling remotely sorry for yourself, just think - you could have two teenagers and a 6 year old who won't be out of college till you're in your 60's!!!
In the meantime I am buggering off to the BlogHer conference in Chicago, with my old mate Drunk Mummy, who's coming over from the UK. Unfortunately she's flying in on Thursday and out on Sunday (wah) so we won't have time for much merry-making outside of conference hours. I'm a bit worried about the whole thing as the BlogHer web site is full of what everyone is going to be wearing. What? I thought this was a conference about bloggy stuff, not a bloody fashion show. I don't even have a tan to fool everyone into thinking I'm fabulous.
Drunk Mummy is bringing some PowderRoomGrafitti t-shirts so I think I'll just artfully tie one of those into a knot at my hip - or is that too 80's?
.
You realise that revelation just made me gasp with envy...? Have a cocktail for me, sweeties!
ReplyDeleteA six year old who won't be out of college till you're in your sixties. Interesting. It happens.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of you shaking Laura Bush by the shoulders. Would you slap her round the face and pull her hair too?
ReplyDeleteI'll be the one in shorts and a tee shirt from the Goodwill.
ReplyDeleteI don't give a crap.
I know. This clothing thing. What???? It makes me feel like showing up naked, just to be spiteful. 4,500 bloggers struck blind at BlogHer! Such a kerfuffle.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time at BlogHer. *sigh* Not going! Maybe next year or maybe we should do an ex-pat blogger conference! Seriously, have fun and represent! LOL
ReplyDeleteWell I am well into my sixties and now I have grandchildren to look after. You might be eighty and still looking after yours! LOL! Keeps you young or finishes you off.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of arty outfits and don't worry about what anyone says. Be yourself.
Have a good time with Drunken Mummy!
Hmm, swanning off to a conference sounds pretty fabulous. (Escaping the children, doubly so.) Have a drink or two for the far flung (and insignificant) bloggers like me to even consider the concept of going, and ask Drunk Mummy what do I have to do to get a PRG t-shirt. I'd wear it - but probably not artfully enough to even carry off a retro 80s look. Good luck and have fun!
ReplyDeleteWell, I've made myself some "business cards" (cough, cough) which look like my blogging logo, and I've also made myself a badge. I swear I am dyslexic when it comes to figuring out which way to put paper in when you have to take into account that it prints on the other side of the paper (you know what I mean.) A few years ago my mother and I were making cards of some sort and even she was aghast at my ineptitude. Mind you, she never does hold back.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I have hit upon a fab idea. Aside from wearing an over-sized PowderRoomGrafitti t-shirt, I have an enormous Union Jack flag!! I am picking up one of the Alpha Mummy girls and we don't know what the other looks like so I thought of draping that around me (artfully) in the Arrivals lounge. But then, as usual, my imagination took over AND
I might just wear it as a sarong for the conference. Represent - as they say!!!
Oooh have fun with all the Blogista's and lookout for Carla Hefley from Tulsa (aka Jill of all Trades) a blog buddy of mine. I know there'll be many there, but ya know how those 'small world' things happens!LOL
ReplyDeleteBTW I vote for a jumpsuit!
Popped across to the other blog link and enjoyed the read.
ReplyDeleteA conference about blogging?? seriously?? No kidding??
80s is so retro, you can't go wrong Expat.
ReplyDeletePlease tell us more about this conference. What's if for?? Read your piece on MYCHILD. I like the snot story and the fact your 13 year old sports a mohawk. Perhaps ask him for some fashion tips?
Wow! You're off to Blogher - Hope it's fabulous and your flag/sticker outfit combo sounds so cool...
ReplyDeleteI proffered a little award to you today - I know you might not 'do' awards and that's fine - but I wanted to offer it to your great spirit of fun and mad parenting!
Bon voyage! x
And your interview response about Laura Bush - 'Cracking!' :)
ReplyDeleteoh sod it. enjoy yourself. who cares what you wear?

Well I can't find the Union Jack flag (sniff) so it'll be sensible clothes for me.
ReplyDeleteThat is what I miss bout living in England......saying the first thing that comes into your mind without having to check if you will hurt peoples feelings etc. Love the Bush comment.
ReplyDeleteI would love to appear on your blog...I was having a struggle when you last approached me.
Have fun at Blogher!
I am starting to save for next years BlogHer now. I figure between airfare and tickets to the event, I should probably start a full year in advance.
ReplyDeleteDaffy - e-mail me at expatchicago@gmail.com and we'll talk.
ReplyDeleteI had such a wonderful time talking to you at BlogHer. I looked for you throughout the day but couldn't find you again. I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed meeting you and say a proper goodbye. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the day in green-wristlet land!
ReplyDeleteHi, sorry I missed you... I had to rush for a train at 4:40, so I just suddenly ran off. Will reply off line as well.
