Update

Don't worry - this is not turning into a dog blog, but things are settling down and I don't feel like I have to watch her all day - either to stop her peeing on the rug, eating the plants or trying to lick her incision.

My 6 year old is doing a great job of tiring her out at the end of the day and she slept through her second night.

I am still completely, utterly knackered of course.

  2. You have got her started on some good basic training. Glad she is settling in.

  3. She looks lovely--Im biased though, she looks very much like a dog I found on my grandparents farm in Oklahoma when I was a teen, and convinced my grandparents to adopt. They did on the condition they could name her (my teenage ideas weren't very interesting perhaps) and called her Dagmar. She was one of the most lovely, intelligent, friendly, wonderful dogs ever.

I would love to get a dog. Must get a fence first. Lucky you!

  5. It is just like having another baby, I agree! Ours is now like having a child around, albeit one who can stay home by himself for some of the day.

As for people who tell you they keep you fit - don't believe a word of it! I'm so much less fit than before we got ours. What used to be my gym/solo running time is now dog walking/running time, and I much preferred the former!

Much as I love mine, I wouldn't have another one. I hope you feel differently!

  6. Funny how people either get a dog or have another baby. I might opt for a dog too next time round. :)

  7. I also went for a doggy instead of baby number 3! Currently worrying about him (he's 8 months old) as he hasn't eaten his tea. So basically, it's an extra little being to worry about, and an extra person to pick up after! But they are LOVELY! xx

  8. Had a bit of a meltdown earlier today that sent everyone running in all directions. Took five minutes out to have a shower, came back down to find the dog in the back, digging up the plants and covered in mud. She then of course, ran into the house and got mud everywhere. I don't know why I snapped but before I knew it, Queenager was cleaning the floor and Ball & Chain and Little Guy took her for a two hour walk.
    Must try that again.

  9. We already had the dog so had to opt for the more children option. Sounds like she is doing brilliantly, she'll be settled before you know it. x

  10. I can't believe it! My second cousin!
I've known about 'Expat Mum' for a while now but didn't put two and two together. Mum was talking about you yesterday and I saw you'd linked up with my brother on FB. Had best make you a friend too, as well as a relative.
