Olympic Apathy

The official countdown to the 2012 Games has begun. Why the apathy in the UK?
Pop over to Pond Parleys for our thoughts.

  1. Greetings Expat mum,
As someone living in the UK, I would have to say from my own observations on Olympics in general, that the public of the host nation, usually do not get caught up in 'Olympic fever' until very close to the beginning.
At this moment, the closer you get to London, the more aware you are in regards to the 2012 Games.
I'm originally from Vancouver and the Winter Olympics really gathered momentum just prior to the Opening.
So, perhaps it's not a question of 'apathy', after all :)
Hope you're having a peaceful weekend.
In kindness, Gary, a Canadian living in England :)

  2. Hello,
Funny you should be writing about this today. I just picked up a few little 'bits' of Olympic trinkets for my UK/USA friends in Chicago, or rather their children. It does seem that is currently more the further away from London you get. :-)

Lulu - you've just given me a great idea of what to ask for for Xmas!

  4. I think some reservations are due to the costings against the economical state of the country right now.
