American Toilets - Information Dump for visitors

  1. Sounds like you need to take a degree in toilet flushing! Is this progress?
    I have some terrible memories of open toilets on a farm we used to stay on as a child. The smell & the flies....... ugh!

After years of dealing with a houseful of low-water toilets, we went ahead and replaced ours with some fabulous high-pressure models that could have easily handled the proverbial bucket of golf balls, and pitched out all but one plunger (which was never used.) Naturally, right afterwards, we moved to Korea, where the high-pressure flusher is not yet A Thing. On the plus side, most modern apartments (and many public toilets) feature the high-tech electronic toilet seat, which has not only a built-in bidet, but also a warm-air dryer (to answer your question from the other site about how people dried off if they weren't using TP. My personal favorite feature is extremely important in freezing-cold Seoul (where bathrooms are rarely heated:) the seat warmer.
