Green Bean Barny*

The previous post was half of the post that's up at Pond Parleys. You wouldn't believe the barny* that's going on about it. It's so ridiculous it's funny.

  3. Oh you were laughing and typing. As I commented over there, it looked like you were pissed as a fart!

  4. As one from across the pond as well, I enjoyed the post and comments! I will admit here that I have embraced this holiday and when it's my turn I can do a turkey like a Yank, but I will not make a green bean cassarole nor one of these gross syruped-up sweet potato concoctions with marshmallows on top. And I'm not apologizing. I do Brussels sprouts! So there!

    Happy Thanksgiving all!

Miss Footloose, doing Christmas dinner this year.

  5. Oh God got dragged into the row there didn't I - was feeling grumpy and couldn't resist.
Still, there's nothing like a bit of controversy to set a blog ablaze....

  8. I have just caught up! I've never live in the states. Who'd have thought saying you dislike a vegetable (well, if you count tinned+tinned+packet variations)could cause SUCH controversy. But hey, if thanksgiving is anything like the build up to christmas here, everyone is chomping at the bit for a chance of a barney. And that marshamallow thing sounds too sweet to eat.

  9. Brighton Mum - you would be correct about the build up and the barny.

  10. We'll be having sprouts and no green bean casserole! Rule Britannia!!! (evil laugh he he he he).
Seriously - some people need to get a sense of humour. I got scolded last month for taking the Michael out of people that meet about bonfires. I guess some people are very sensitive, but about green casserole? Strange...

  11. Oh it's getting better. The sensible side of me wants to close it down, but it's just too funny. My other nemesis, Howard, has just weighed in again and called my opinion of the green bean casserole "chauvinistic"? Obviously I have asked for an explanation.

  12. Well, Ive just returned from the barny and I felt like the kid that got there too late. Not that I could have contributed much, having never tried green bean casserole. Still, what an entertaining way to enjoy my morning coffee!

  13. Goodness, I just popped over there again and it's still going on! Who knew that insulting green bean casserole could be chauvinistic?

  14. LOL, just had a look!
Surely that's like saying you don't like fish and offending all people who like fish? It doesn't make sense!!
    Great laugh though...
