Good job I'm not Vain

OK, so you know how sometimes things happen to me? No? Well, you obviously weren't around for the man-hole story so here it is.

Anyway, last night I'm quietly lying exhausted on the sofa sitting, when I realise I have something in my eye. Something really quite big and scratchy. I do the usual blinking, rolling eyeball around, pulling eyelid out a bit - nothing works. Splash water in eye - not quite sure what I was aiming for with that, but I was getting very desperate. Of course I couldn't find the little eyewash thing I've had for years, so the Ball & Chain walked to the nearest pharmacy to get eyewash and an eye bath. Not working.

Two hours later whatever was in my eye was still there, and the eye is getting more and more sore. In fact it looked like this.

In the end I went to bed, Hoping that having my eyes closed for 8 hours would do the trick.

So here I am next morning. The thing has gone, but if you thought the photo above looked bad, you should see it now. All the skin is swollen, red and sore. Every time I blink it hurts.

The Little Guy got up, looked at me and said "Wow, you look tired!".

I have so much to do this weekend, and it's all in public of course. Good job I'm  not vain!

  4. I think my eyeball is OK now, thank goodness. The skin however is another story. Seems to be an allergy to my own tears (sigh) and it's red, extremely sore and cracked. Make-up makes it look worse. However, it's very sunny here today so the shades are coming out.

  10. The same thing happened to me last week, I was in agony but couldn't see anything in my eye. It took a couple of days to get back to normal. Hope you're okay now.

  13. Glad you managed to lose the nasty thing that became dislodged during the night.
I once had to attend the eye hospital to have a large piece of sawdust removed. Not very pleasant.
You are pretty even with a swollen eye.
