Flaming Yong and Other Culinary Delights

You know when toddlers are toddlers and they come out with the funniest things by accident? Well, in this house it seems to go on and on.

Take this morning's conversation with my 9 year old.

Me - "That dog eats better than we do".

9 y/o - "I know. Next you'll be giving her flaming yong."
Pause.

Me, mouthing to the Ball & Chain - "What's yong?"
Another pause.

Penny drops.

Me - "Ah......filet mignon."

  1. Classic. My 7 y/o this evening asked what the vegetable on the table was. I told him, he fell about. "Button-nob-Bot?" *heavy sigh*

  4. Haven't had any of these for a few years now, but have fond memories of Son#1 writing a nice little piece for school about the family pets, 2 "Laboratory Treevers."

  7. I love these things. We still use some in our house just for fun. My daughter used to say Orcshire Puddings, which was coincidentally at the same time as the Lord of the Rings movies were coming out ('Orcs' are characters in it, for those who dont know). I still write orcshire puddings on my shopping list. But my favourite was 'cholocket' for chocolate which I also still say. It just works, somehow.

  8. Love it! My two come up with some good ones but Anbarrow takes the biscuit - it took me a long time to work it out too: Bow And Arrow

  11. The 3-yo asked me yesterday to show her the 'gomnes thai' video on the iPad. The huh?!?!
All I heard was 'comes tai', thinking the nursery had started teaching the kids Italian without my knowing. Turned out she wanted to see the Gangnam Style video...
