OK, Resolution Time

I don't often "do" resolutions. I mean it's just setting yourself up for mid-June failure isn't it? This year however, there are a few "musts" so instead of drawing up a huge to-do list, I'll call them resolutions and I'll announce them loudly. Isn't that what you're supposed to do when you're really serious about following through.

1. Lose at least five pounds. Not that I've suddenly gained weight or anything, but I recently found out that my bathroom scales are 4-5 pounds too light. I was weighed at my annual well woman appointment and even without my boots on, let's just say the numbers didn't' match the ones in my bathroom. Even though my doc called me "skinny and boring" (boring is her word for having no health issues), I don't want to be five pounds heavier than I thought I was. I mean, it's just going to creep up if I don't get a serious handle on it now. So there - I've told the word I'm losing at least 5 pounds.

2. Enter every competition I come across. I complain that I never win anything but it would help if I actually entered things now and then. I'm not going to become one of those obsessive competitioners (new word) but it'll be interesting to see what my return on time invested is. By the way, does anyone know a single person who's won the monthly prize for going onto a store's web site and filling in the customer service survey? I asked one sales assistant in Old Navy recently and she even admitted she hadn't heard of any winners.

3. Unsubscribe from at least 50 web sites. Seriously, I get e-mails from companies I've never even heard of, that don't cater to my needs and I don't remember subscribing to in the first place. I'm going to be ruthless on this one because they're clogging up my in box and slowing down my computer.

4. Do something with my photos. I have over 300 photos on my I-phone, most of which are also on my computer, but I'm just terrified to delete any in case they're lost for ever. I need to sit down every so often and get them in one place, (preferably where I can find them) and delete the second and third iterations I have all over the place.

I feel like I should have a fifth here, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Happy New Year in advance.

  1. Mid-June?! You make it until mid-June? In my world, I'd call that a success since I can't keep a resolution past the first 24 hours.

  2. I'll have your extra five pounds if you like. I've decided that being too thin just accentuates wrinkles. I need a bit more padding to fill them out - but only on my face, if that's possible.

  3. Happy New Year to you, too! And good luck with your resolutions.

Have you considered having photo books printed from your photo collections? You'll have hard copies of them then.

  4. Gigi - It's probably more honest to say that the guilt kicks in about June!
Trish- I have this conversation with my mum all the time. While yes, losing weight an make your face look a little older, I still think that it's more aging to carry extra weight around on your bod. I do have to be careful though because as soon as I lose weight it comes off both sets of cheeks first, and it looks much more dramatic than it really is. I just need it taken off the torso!
leemikcee - I definitely have to do something with them so yes, will look into that. Thanks.

  5. Happy Christmas and NY!! Love the resolutions and especially loving the subliminal typo where you say "there- I've told the word I'm losing at least 5 pounds" ha ha.....that words been told.

Agree re photos although I have 1,2K photos on my phone which probably explains why it is struggling to work!
